Top Five Fabulous! November 29, 2019
1. We had Trickster this week! We worked with a drama expert and they taught us a bit about acting and being on the stage. Our Trickster wrote a play using the Arctic as a guide and we practiced the play all week. When we were not working on the play we were playing some games. We loved learning our lines and then presenting in front of the whole school and for our parents last night!
2. We have started to talk about the clothes that people wore in Northern Canada in the past. The people could not just go to the store to pick up their clothes, or to the fabric store to make their clothes, they would use animal hide and fur to make their clothing. We will make a trading card for clothing in the coming days.
3. This week in literacy, we wrote about what we would do with $100. Some of our ideas were: giving the money to charity to help other people or animals, we would use the money to buy gas and then use our cars to pick up people who needed a ride, maybe buy toys (like a Lego set or slime) or give the money to kids who needed surgery. There were so many ideas! We did a shared writing piece before some of us, in the writing centre, wrote our own ideas in our journals.
4. In math, we have started creating our Fact Family Village. Everything in our village/town had to have a fact family. A fact family is using 3 numbers and making 2 addition sentences, and 2 subtraction sentences. For example:
Using the number 8,9 and 17
8+9=17 17-8=9
9+8=17 17-9=8
