Top Five Fabulous!  November 21, 2019

1.  In social studies, we worked on a new trading card.  We made a card to represent the language spoken in northern Canada (Inuktituk). We worked with a small group, after looking at pictures of some animals that would be found in the Northern part of Canada, and we wrote the English, the Inuktituk, the symbol, and then we drew a picture.  Ask me how to say hello and goodbye in Inuktituk.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUSwXbz7CtE
2.  Some grade 4 students came into our class to help us brainstorm what we would like to see in the new Learning Commons.  We watched a presentation and then got into groups to draw and label what we would like to see.  For example, some musical instruments, the solar system on the roof, an area to build and experiment and some art supplies.
3.  We went to the Learning Commons to go for a book look.  We made a wishlist for books that we would love to buy during conferences. We understand that this is a wishlist and it does not mean that we will get all of the books that we wrote down.
4.  In math, we have been working on our mental math strategies.  This week we worked with doubles facts (4+4=8), and also doubles +1 (5+6=11. I would think 5+5=10 and 1 more is 11). We wrote story problems and listened to a doubles song.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jOzhiACB68

5.  In PE, we have continued to work on our basketball skills.  We have been dribbling, passing, and today we used the hoops to see if we could shoot the ball into the basket.  Some of us were able to get it in, and others will continue to perserve next week!
