Top Five Fabulous! February 7, 2020
1. In PE we started our Rocks and Rings residency. We are learning the skills to be able to play a curling game. We have learned how to sweep and how to throw the rocks. Ask me about some of the rules for curling and maybe you can check out the curling tournament this weekend.
2. In Art, we have learned about a new artist. Her name is Kenojuak Askevak. She lived in the Northern part of Canada. She was born in an igloo and she lived a very traditional way of life. She is a very important artist in Canada. She was inspired by the animals that lived around her and many of the artists in Northern Canada were inspired by things around them.
3. In math, we have continued to learn about 3D objects. We learned how to draw these objects and then we recorded some of the examples that we know around the world. We learned about a cube, sphere, pyramid, cylinder, prism and a cone. Ask me to tell you about the examples that I thought about.
4. In science, we have been learning about matter. We learned about solids, liquids and gases. We came up with examples of each with a partner. We started to talk about things that are hot and things that are cold. Next week we will discover how temperature can change matter.
5. Our classes have been focusing on a lot on kindness. We have been reading stories, joining conversations, and working through morning messages in order to promote an inclusive classroom. We LOVE to celebrate all of the kind acts. The kids are learning the difference between a tattle and a report and when they need to have adult support to problem solve.
